It is with sadness that we announce the passing of one of Croyde Surf Club's original founders and former Chairman, Terry Veitch.
Terry first started surfing in 1970. During the 70s he surfed all over the South and South West of England and travelled to Morocco and the Caribbean during the winters. After years of surfing Croyde, he moved to North Devon in 1979 and married Liz. He was soon diagnosed as having Crohn's Disease and went into NDDH for major surgery.
He continued surfing. He loved to surf The Point and Lynmouth, often being as close as he could get to the rocks.
Unfortunately Crohn's returned and he was forced to give up surfing in 2003. He was an inspiration to others, both in and out of the water and was always proud of his early involvement with the Croyde Surf Club.
He was a warrior and fought a long, hard battle, finally laying down his sword and shield last week and paddling off into the West.
