Back in April when we tried to run the Al Ran Memorial contest, we weren’t faced with the usual howling onshore winds but we scuppered with a sunny and flat spell!? Conditions which we were certainly not used to, especially for that time of year. So postponements to the calendar saw the junior contest hijack the Monday Club Night and surfers were greeted with baking hot tropical weather and perfect waves for our junior competitors.
In the U10’s, it was Ace Cotton who was turning heads. In only his second ever surf session and his first ever competition, he was quickly following in his dads footsteps by hassling Cotty to take him further out the back! It was also the first club competition for Alex Townsend, who has joined us from South Africa some five months ago and was the perfect introduction to competitions here in the UK.
Chairman, Jon ‘Busby’ Foster would like to thank all competitors and volunteers for making the event happen.
