Off The Walls - Dec '15

December 15, 2015

As we head into the silly season , just a quick update on what's happening in Croyde Surf Clubs Wonderland. It's been a great start to winter plenty of swell, and surprisingly mild. Monday's nights Grom club has ceased and winter beer prices are back ! Oops sorry that was wishful thinking , but there are meal deals all round at Croyde's favourite watering holes.

The next event for CSC is the Steve McKewan Memorial on December 5th , with the presentation for the event and the end of year trophies for all divisions . The social and presentation will be at Billy Budds , so if your a contestant, contender or socialite , hope to see you there !

Nationally CSCs finest have been competing literally the length of the country from Newquay to Thurso. Flora Lawton , Peony Knight and Storm Wall made the 734 mile trek to Thurso East , the UKs premiere reef break. The surf was epic, with Flora making the women's and the U18s final ,and Peony making and winning the U18s final.Storm bagged a couple of great results with semi finals in both U16 and U18 divisions. All proof that Croyde is still producing top end British Surfers. Well done all ! And a big a thanks to Damo Beveridge of Surf Development UK.

All details of up and coming events and socials can be found on the web site www.croydesurfclub.com

Before you hang up your stocking , hoping for an airline ticket South of the equator , have a thought for the joys of Winter surfing in the UK.

The Pros.Long period ground swells ,Consistency,Possibly solitude.

The cons.Frigid water, dense neoprene, ice cream headaches.

Why ? We all have our own reasons , maybe it's just good old British bloody mindedness, whatever your reason, great to have you on board, Welcome to the club !
