Monday Evening Sessions – Martin Purchase

Monday Night Grom Squad is up and running for 2011

2011 sees the continuation of Monday evening "Club Night" sessions at Downend. Martin will continue to run these with the help of parents and other volunteers. Members of all levels are welcome, from complete 8 year old beginners to seniors who want to come and hoot the groms into waves. There is a £1 sub per session to go into the kitty for buying kit etc. It has been agreed that funding will be sought for soft boards and a trailer to complement the existing kit so that the club has the kit they need to run these sessions.

“We've been running these sessions for a number of years now and they are really popular, they give the juniors a chance to surf with friends and make new ones in a safe supervised way where they can push each other plus get tips from the lifeguard trained adult surfers in the water with them.”

Monday Night Grom Sessions will not run during the Summer Holidays, last session will be Monday 18th July and will restart  on the first Monday of school.

Intermediate and Advanced Training – Darren Burrett - Surf South West

2011 will see the continuation of the CSC Grom Squad Sessions at Surf South West. These sessions are designed to pick up the groms who have progressed and are now competing regularly at national level. There is a girls group and a boys group proposed for 2011.  Numbers are limited. The cost of paying John and Will (SSW instructors) will be part subsidised by CSC and Darren at SSW continues to generously dontate his time, premises and equipment. Parents/ groms will be asked to contribute to the cost, this is expected to be about £3-£4 per session per grom.

FREE VIDEO ANALYSIS SESSIONS

Available for any U21’s. Gordon Dryburgh is organising some video sessions, to take place when the conditions are good. Footage will then be used for analysis purposes to look at technique etc. Sessions are paid for by the surf club. Any interested surfers (who must be members) should email sally@croydesurf.co.uk with phone number which will then be passed onto Gordon to coordinate the sessions.
