Tech savvy backpackers risk pricey luggage

According to recent research by AA travel insurance, gap year holidaymakers carry upwards of £1billion worth of valuables in their backpacks, that’s an average of £450 each.
This increasingly valuable baggage, which AA claim makes backpacker travel insurance more important than ever, is reckoned to be a side effect of young travellers increasing dependence on expensive gadgets to stay in touch with friends and family back home.
