Destination Party Animal – The Spanish Coast

Over twelve million British tourists flock to the shores of sunny Spain every year, and the warm coastal regions, promising beautiful beaches and high temperatures, never fail to attract the holidaymakers. There are a number of shoreline hotspots that the younger generation of Brits just can’t resist, and the summer often becomes one long party, sustained by plane loads of 18-30 year olds heading to the restaurants and bars until it’s either seriously late, or incredibly early – it doesn’t really seem to matter to the revellers! Here are some of the top hotspots on the Spanish coast that, if you’re young and looking for an 18-30 holiday, you may want to consider for next year.

Salou, Costa Daurada

If you’re going to be a bit more active than merely sitting on a beach all of the time during your days away, then Salou is ideally located for some great day trips. It’s around 70km from the Catalonian capital of Barcelona and its many sites, and coach trips are readily available in the town, so long as you’re not too hungover of course. One of Europe’s top theme parks, Port Aventura, is also located nearby. Complete with breathtaking roller coasters like the Dragon Khan or Furious Baco, this place is sure to thrill you senseless. If you’re feeling a little bit lazier in the day then Salou has a very long beach to relax on. The resort is also, most importantly, famous for having a wide range of bars and clubs, although you will probably find it less busy than some of Spain’s other hotspots. One of the best places to visit for a night out is Pahca, a huge nightclub in the neighbouring resort of La Pineda.

Benidorm, Costa Blanca

Benidorm has four miles of golden sand across two huge beaches and it boasts a wide range of entertainment in the town and nearby. The resort has also been nicknamed ‘The Manhattan of the Costa Blanca’ because of its impressive coastal skyline. Like Salou, Benidorm has a large theme park at the centre as an extra in the daytime – Terra Mitica. The neon lights of the bars switch on at the first hint of nightfall, and most of them don’t switch off until breakfast time! The hottest nightspots are Pacha (again!), Ku, Space and Penelope, so look out for them if you go. See Benidorm Spotlight for more.

Torremolinos, Costa del Sol

Almost everyone in the UK is well aware of the Costa del Sol’s reputation as a Mecca for British holidaymakers, and the city of Torremolinos is one of the biggest contributors to this. Sitting just 10 miles of to the west of Malaga, the resort boasts six miles of wide beaches along with the popular night spots. The resort really saw its heyday in the late 80s and early 90s, but today the night spirit lives on in abundance. The best selection of clubs is along Avda Palma de Mallorca, but the Paladium has a particularly good reputation for a wild night. Similar to Ibiza Town, this resort has a very popular gay scene centred on La Nogalera, where there is a blend of drag bars and mainstream clubs. Exotic shows are also very popular with both gay and straight visitors.

If you’re thinking of taking the trip to Spain this summer, then check out James Villas for Spain holidays. Flymonarch are a good company to find cheap flights to Spain, while Go Travel come as highly recommended for travel insurance. You’ll have your own tailor made package in no time if you visit these three sites, often at much better prices than traditional travel agents.
